How to Play Yatzy Online

Yatzy Online is available in three different modes: Classic Yatzy, Maxi Yatzy, and Online Multiplayer. Choose your preferred mode at the top of the page before starting the game.

Basic Rules

Each turn gives you up to 3 rolls. After your first roll, you can click on any dice to hold them — these will be kept for the next roll. Roll the remaining dice again and repeat if needed.

After up to 3 rolls, you must choose a category to score your result. You must select a category every round, even if you score 0 points.

Classic Yatzy (5 Dice)

Classic Yatzy is played with 5 dice and includes 15 scoring categories.

Upper Section

• Ones – Sum of all ones
• Twos – Sum of all twos
• Threes – Sum of all threes
• Fours – Sum of all fours
• Fives – Sum of all fives
• Sixes – Sum of all sixes

Bonus: Score 63 or more points in the upper section to earn an extra 50 bonus points.

Lower Section

• One Pair – Sum of the pair
• Two Pair – Sum of both pairs
• Three of a Kind – Sum of the three dice
• Four of a Kind – Sum of the four dice
• Small Straight (1–2–3–4–5) – 15 points
• Large Straight (2–3–4–5–6) – 20 points
• Full House (three of a kind + one pair) – Sum of all dice
• Chance – Sum of all dice
• Yatzy (five of a kind) – 50 points

Maxi Yatzy (6 Dice)

Maxi Yatzy is played with 6 dice and includes additional scoring categories. The bonus threshold is 84 points in the upper section.

Additional Categories in Maxi

• Two Pair – Sum of both pairs
• Three Pair – Sum of all three pairs
• Small Straight (1–2–3–4–5) – 15 points
• Large Straight (2–3–4–5–6) – 20 points
• Full Straight (1–2–3–4–5–6) – 21 points
• Full House (three of a kind + one pair) – Sum of all dice
• Large Full House (three of a kind + three of a kind) – Sum of all dice
• Five of a Kind – 50 points
• Maxi Yatzy (six of a kind) – 100 points

Token System (Maxi)

In Maxi Yatzy, you earn tokens during the game. Tokens allow you to take one extra roll after using your standard 3 rolls.

Click the “Use Token” button to activate it. You can only use one token per turn.

Local Multiplayer

Select Local mode and choose the number of players (1–6). Each player enters their name and takes turns on the same device.

After the final round, the leaderboard will display the rankings. Ties share the same position.

Online Multiplayer (2–6 Players)

Select Online mode to play with friends in real time.

How to create a room:

• Enter your name and click Create Room
• Share the generated link with your friends
• Wait for all players to join, then click Start Game (host only)

How to join a room:

• Click the shared link (room code is filled automatically)
• Enter your name and click Join Room
• Wait for the host to start the game

Players take turns in the order they joined. All dice rolls and score selections are visible in real time. Results are automatically saved to the multiplayer leaderboard after the game ends.

The leaderboard shows top scores across different modes:

• Classic – Solo and Local Multiplayer
• Maxi – Solo and Local Multiplayer
• Multiplayer – Online games with room codes
