How to Play War Card Game

War is a simple and exciting card game for 2 players. The goal is to win all cards — or finish with the most cards when your opponent can no longer continue.

Play solo against the computer or challenge another player online with an invite link.

Classic Rules

Each player starts with half of the deck.

Both players draw one card at the same time.

The higher card wins the round and takes all cards in the pot.

If both cards have the same value, it becomes War:

• Extra cards are added face down to the pot
• A new card decides who wins everything

The game continues until one player runs out of cards.

Card Ranking

Standard ranking:

2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9 → 10 → Jack → Queen → King → Ace

Ace is normally the highest card.

Some game modes include special ranking rules.

Game Modes

1. Classic War

The original version.

Fast, simple, and entirely luck-based.

2. Addition War

Each player draws 2 cards per round.

The combined value decides the winner.

Highest total wins the pot.

Great for practicing quick mental math.

3. Automatic War (2 Triggers War)

Works like Classic War.

However, every round where a 2 appears automatically triggers War.

This creates larger pots and more dramatic matches.

4. Strategy War / Armed War

A more tactical version.

Instead of drawing random cards, players choose cards from their hand.

Rules include:

• Played cards move to your discard pile
• Won cards are added to discard
• Empty hands reshuffle discard into a new hand
• During War, 3 random face-down cards are added before choosing a War card

Special rule:

2 beats Ace but loses to all other cards.

This mode rewards planning and decision-making.

5. Joker’s Wild

Two Jokers are added to the deck.

Jokers become the highest cards in the game.

More chaos. Bigger swings.

Speed War

A faster variation with fewer cards for shorter matches.

Slapjack / Egyptian Ratscrew

An action-based version focused on reaction speed and slap mechanics.

Multiplayer War (3+ Players)

Expanded battles with more than two players.

Solo and Online Multiplayer

War Card Game supports both Solo and Online play.

Solo Mode

Play against the computer.

Online Mode

Challenge another player using an invite link.

To play online:

1. Select Online
2. Enter your name
3. Press Set Name
4. Host creates a room
5. Copy and send the invite link
6. Another player joins
7. Take turns drawing cards
8. Use Leave Room when finished

Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile.

Highscore and Points

Scores are saved only after winning a completed match.

The scoring system works the same in Solo and Online modes.

Points are calculated using:

• Winner bonus: 1000 points
• Speed bonus: up to 500 points

Formula:

points = 1000 + max(0, 500 − 5 × rounds)

Faster wins earn more points.

Fewer rounds = better score.

Losing matches are not saved to the leaderboard.
